Common Face Markings

 

         There are 8 markings we will talk about. Your goal for this section is to be able to name the different markings as you see them.

 

                                           

 

 

 Star: any marking on the forehead.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Strip: a narrow marking between the forehead and muzzle.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Snip: a marking usually vertical between the two nostrils.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

     Star, Strip, and Snip:  a marking between the eyes, long strip down the forehead and extended between the two nostrils.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

     Disconnected Star, Strip, and Snip:  a marking on the forehead with a narrow  extension of nasal peak and opening up again between the nostrils.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

     Star and Strip:  a marking on the forehead with a strip to nasal peak.  The strip may connect to the star.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Blaze: a broad vertical marking extending the length of the face with a relatively uniform width.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   Bald Face:  a very broad blaze.  It can extend out and around the eyes and can extend down to the upper lip and around the nostrils.
