It is the fifth element of training explained in the course Training Performance Horses. • Suppleness is not looseness, and it is not flexibility. When achieved, it indicates an advanced stage of training for the "unrestricted" horse. • A horse is said to be "unrestricted" if he accepts his rider without tightening his back muscles and then willingly begins a well-time trot without rein contact, relaxed body and back muscles, a pleasant expression and a natural swinging rhythm of the tail.
