There is no point in saddling to be second. The first rule of winning is "know the rules". Whatever event you choose there are rules which can make or break you. Winners know everything there is to know about their event; the rules plus what the judges want to see. If it is an equitation class, you better know exactly how to present yourself and your horse. If the horse is being judged, you need to know how every maneuver and gait should be presented. Your horse might not be the most talented in the competition and that is acceptable.
