If it were the other way around, then one trainer would have nothing but winners. But it is what it is! Whether the barn has 2 horses or 22 horses or 222 horses some of the horses are better than others, some are champions and some just aren't much…yet, they are all trained by the same trainer. Good trainers are wise enough to know that while they may have great talent and confidence in their ability, it is ultimately the horse that makes the difference. If you want great performer, start with a horse that is bred to do the job. If you want a runner, start with a horse bred to run. If you want a western pleasure horse start with a horse bred to be a western pleasure horse. If you want a cutter, start with cutting horse breeding. If you want frustration and an unhappy horse, try to make a gaited horse into a dressage horse. Training is much easier when the horse wants to do what you want to do.
