If you train to win an event, do you know virtually everything there is to know about that event? Are you training a horse that is bred for that event? Is the horse you are training good enough to win at the highest levels? A very successful competitor told me: "Most people spend too much on things and not enough on the purchase of the horse. They drive up in a truck that cost $55,000, pulling a trailer that costs $39,500 and they unload a horse that cost $5,000. Their focus is in the wrong place. My training tip: get your focus in the right place….the horse. It's called a "horse show", not a saddle show, equipment show or fashion show.
